Living A Responsible Financial Life

Living out your life on constant debts and loans is a fast and direct path to going bankrupt. If you leave this uncontrolled it will grow almost too big for you to handle. Mishandling money is even becoming, ever so gradually, the leading motivator behind the breakups of relationships both romantic and familial.

Having said all that, life may look pretty depressing now. But fixing everything is just a matter of having some caution and self-discipline. It takes a lot of effort to wrestle down your debts, and more effort the bigger your debts are, but you can always turn things around if you just grit your teeth and get to it. Here's a few tips that might make it easier for you to do this.

Guess what the primary cause of financial difficulties is. That's right, credit cards. They're so easy to use, and feel so good to use, but the end result of unrestrained use of credit cards is awful debt.

If you're stuck in that as it is, or just plain like the convenience of credit cards, then there are a few actions you can manage to keep the end result payback to a minimum.

Firstly, don't put anything on your card unless you're pretty sure you can pay it back within sixty days at the most.

It's tempting, but you should try to stay away from the minimum payment option. If you do that, in the long haul you'll wind up paying even more. The price for less now is more later.

Don't swipe a card out of convenience for every little thing you buy. The more you have to count out the physical dollar bills, the more psychological resistance there is to pointless spending.

Once you're finished paying on the card, cancel and slice it. Try living without the card for a period of time, just to see how you can adjust. Does this seem silly? Remember, your parents somehow managed it.

Cleaning out all the dues owed on your card can feel like a great rush, and that could entice you into trying for a bigger limit on spending.  Once, twice, what's the difference? A big difference, actually, as it gets harder and harder with a higher ceiling.

So, with basic credit card behavior taken care of, let's talk about loans and mortgages. When you apply for these, don't ever just grab the first thing because it's right there. Look around. It's a competitive market, you can afford to bargain hunt, and you're ripping yourself off if you don't. And once you do have a loan, try to really make an effort to take care of it as quickly as you possibly can manage.

Also, you need to keep a good eye on how much your necessary expenses are versus how much you make. Write down clear, regular records of where all your money goes to from month to month, and also where it comes from to start with. Try to save money and let it slowly grow. Then you can live a life free of debt and worry for the financial future.
